During this period, a music video produced with Neo Geo received regular airplay on MTV Basement Tapes, underscoring Brett’s credibility as both a composer and performer.
Brett has performed at many of California’s most respected original-music venues, including The Fillmore in San Francisco, Whisky a Go Go and Troubadour in Los Angeles, as well as the Whole Earth Festival at UC Davis. His formal musical studies include a focused year of jazz guitar at the University of Utah, adding a disciplined theoretical framework to his extensive real-world experience.
Primarily a guitarist on both electric and acoustic instruments, Brett also offers instruction in bass guitar and ukulele. His stylistic foundation lies in rock, blues, grunge/alternative, and singer-songwriter traditions, allowing him to guide students through both expressive performance and stylistic authenticity.
Brett’s teaching is defined by a student-centered approach. Each curriculum is carefully tailored to the individual, combining foundational techniques, essential music theory and an emphasis on the student’s personal interests and goals.
