Allysia

Allysia has been playing guitar & piano since 2008 and has worked as a professional music instructor since 2019. She earned a B.A. in Music with an emphasis in Music Industry from Cal Poly Pomona. Through her time at CPP, she studied classical guitar under the direction of Dr. Peter Yates and Philip Graulty, and was an active member of both the CPP Guitar Ensemble & Mariachi Los Caballeros de Pomona. She also spent a summer in Granada, Spain, where she studied basic flamenco guitar technique, attended master classes and workshops led by world-class musicians Pepe Romero, Vicente Coves, and the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, and performed along with her peers at the Granada City Hall. For her Senior Project before completing her music degree, Allysia established a beginning guitar program at the dA Center for the Arts, where she taught group guitar classes for youth and adults.

As an instructor, Allysia is passionate about empowering her students to build confidence through studying music in a fun and engaging way. She works to help her students develop essential music skills such as note reading, rhythm, expression, and more. With experience playing and teaching many styles of music, including Classical, Pop, Rock, Folk, and Country, she encourages students to supplement their studies by building a repertoire of songs that reflect their own musical interests. Allysia’s main goal as a teacher is to guide and inspire her students to own their artistry and become the best musicians they can be.
